Introduction to Coordinate Geometry Introduction to Coordinate Geometry covers the creation of the GEOPAK coordinate geometry (COGO) database (*.GPK file, made up of stored geometric elements such as points, lines, curves, etc.) and includes details on using the COGO Navigator (used to view, edit and display coordinate geometry elements).

GEOPAK Intermediate Road training courses
The following are the GEOPAK Intermediate Road training courses:

Horizontal and Vertical Geometry Layout Tools This course discusses several sets of tools to compute alignments and profiles for different types of roads, from basic to complex. Some included tools are horizontal layout tools, VPI based profile generator and components.

Plans Preparation Tools for Road Projects Includes tools needed for creating the construction plans. Includes drawing plans with Design and Computation (D&C) Manager to do quantities afterwards. Also featured are draw transitions, plan and profile labeling, generation plan and plan/profile sheets.

Basic Proposed Cross Sections Works through the generation of proposed cross sections, both inside and outside of Project Manager. This includes how to utilize all the previously created information from the design process; geometry, superelevation, existing ground sections. This class does not cover writing criteria.

Basic Earthwork Covers computing earthwork both inside and outside Project Manager. Includes cut/fill calculations, undercuts, unsuitable materials, review of the log file, and how to interactively fix errors.

Superelevation Tools Discussed in this course is how to define the pavement cross slopes using several different tools. The discussion begins with roadways not requiring superelevation transitions, called shapeless, to automatically calculating superelevation transitions. Then, drawing the pavement shapes and reviewing a variety of review, editing and analysis tools.

Storing Graphics The Storing Graphics course looks at the different methods of linking graphic elements and linking back into the coordinate geometry database. This includes points, lines, curves, chains, and parcels.

Plan Quantities Utilizing GEOPAK Using the elements drawn in the construction plan, this course discusses what is needed to compute quantities, reviews the D&C Manager for computations, then performs several different types of computations. Finally, six different output methods, from ASCII file to spreadsheet to databases, are reviewed and examples done.

GEOPAK Advanced Road training courses
The following are the GEOPAK Advanced Road training courses:

More Earthwork This course is a basic introduction to digital terrain modeling (DTM) concepts. DTM keywords and procedures are discussed at length, with video examples to make it easier to understand how to build digital terrain models. The contents are designed for users who are new to GEOPAK and the DTM process.

Advanced Proposed Cross Sections This course covers more complex projects, such as multiple roadways on a single cross section, and staged cross sections. Other topics include drawing utilities and drainage onto cross sections.

3D GEOPAK 3D topics include generating a DTM from cross sections, 3D Station Offset tool, laying 2D elements onto a 3D DTM model.

GEOPAK Site training courses
The following are the GEOPAK Site training courses:

Introduction to Digital Terrain Modeling This course is a basic introduction to Digital Terrain Modeling concepts. DTM key words and procedures are discussed at length, with video examples to make it easier to understand how to build digital terrain models. The contents are designed for users who are new to GEOPAK and the DTM process.

Advanced Digital Terrain Modeling Advanced Digital Terrain Modeling expands on concepts found in the introduction class. This course discusses additional extraction procedures, working with TIN files and advanced tools, including Profiles, Volume Calculations and Slope Areas. Learn the proper use of Theme functions, computing earthwork and working with Drainage tools.

Introduction to COGO Introduction to coordinate geometry (COGO) covers the creation of a GEOPAK coordinate geometry database (*.GPK file, made up of stored geometric elements such as points, lines, curves, etc.) and includes details on using the COGO Navigator to view, edit and display coordinate geometry elements.

Classic and Graphical COGO This course covers the use of tools found in the main coordinate geometry (COGO) application, including storing elements such as points, curves, alignments and review of the COGO navigator. Graphical COGO discusses the tools found in the graphical COGO application, which uses a combination of MicroStation-type tools to graphically create, modify and delete COGO elements, while storing them in the coordinate geometry database in the background.

Plans Production Tools This course covers the tools used to create final site drawings. These include tools to draw the site plan, the labeler and generating the final site plan sheets.

Existing Ground This course introduces how to generate cross sections using existing ground. Students learn how to generate, display and modify cross sections with illustrations and informative videos. Students also learn how to choose the proper baseline, update existing sections and use Cross Section Navigator.

Beginning Site Modeler In the context of a site plan for a business park, this course covers the basics: creating a site project, creating objects from site elements, and essential analysis tools. The project contains simple road (using sections), building and parking lot.

Advanced Site Modeler Continuing in the same project, the advanced course covers composite sections, edit profile, all wizards, the rest of the analysis tools, drawing profiles and cross sections and exporting data out of your site project.

Plan Quantities Using the elements drawn in the construction plan, this course discusses what is needed to compute quantities, reviews the Design and Computation (D&C) Manager for computations, then performs several different types of computations. Finally, six different output methods, from ASCII file to spreadsheet to databases, are reviewed and examples done.
